HVAC Technician Position Overview
Job Description
This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and cooling units for commercial and residential clients. Technicians must be able to diagnose problems with existing systems and recommend appropriate actions to solve these issues. This role further requires compliance with local HVAC codes and troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems of varying types and models.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have proven experience as an HVAC technician, in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, and the physical capability to lift and handle heavy equipment. They must also possess good problem-solving abilities and excellent verbal communication skills. A valid driver’s license is required. Certification from a vocational school, trade school, or completion of an apprenticeship in HVAC is preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems.
- Understanding complex technical diagrams related to various HVAC systems.
- Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults.
- Cleaning, adjusting, and repairing HVAC systems to improve efficiency.
- Complying with all local HVAC industry regulations and safety standards.
Physical Requirements
This role requires physical strength and stamina for lifting, carrying, and maneuvering heavy equipment. The role often involves staying on feet for extended periods and working in cramped spaces. Willingness to work outdoors and in challenging weather conditions is also expected.
